✧ He came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah, I will not leave any gathering I sat in during disbelief except that I will openly declare Islam in it. He came to the mosque, and in it were groups of Quraysh, sitting in circles, and he began to openly declare Islam and bear witness that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah. The polytheists rose and began to beat him, and he beat them. When they overwhelmed him, a man rescued him. I said to Umar: Who was the man who rescued you from the polytheists? He said: That was al-As b. Wa'il al-Sahmi.
