حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ كَاسِبٍ قَالَ: نَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ. عَنْ بُسْرَةَ بِنْتِ صَفْوَانَ

أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ سَأَلَهَا: مَنْ يَخْطُبُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومِ بِنْتَ عُقْبَةَ ؟ فَقَالَتْ: فُلَانٌ وَفُلَانٌ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَوْفٍ. فَقَالَ: " أَنْكِحُوا عَبْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ، فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ خِيَارِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ، وَمِنْ خِيَارِهِمْ مَنْ كَانَ مِثْلَهُ

✧ The Prophet ﷺ asked her: 'Who is proposing to Umm Kulthūm bt. ʿUqbah?' She said: 'So-and-so and so-and-so, and ʿAbd al-Raḥmān b. ʿAwf.' He said: 'Marry ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, for he is among the best of the Muslims, and among their best is one who is like him.'
