وَعَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ قَالَ:

أَتَيْتُ صَفْوَانَ بْنَ عَسَّالٍ الْمُرَادِيَّ فَسَأَلْتُهُ عَنِ الْمَسْحِ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ، فَقَالَ: كُنَّا إِذَا سَافَرْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَمَرَنَا أَنْ لَا نَنْزِعَ خِفَافَنَا ثَلَاثَ لَيَالٍ وَأَيَّامَهُنَّ إِلَّا مِنْ جَنَابَةٍ، فَأَمَّا مِنْ غَائِطٍ وَبَوْلٍ فَلَا

Translation

✧ I came to Ṣafwān b. ʿAssāl al-Murādī and asked him about wiping over leather socks. He said: 'When we traveled with the Messenger of God ﷺ, he commanded us not to remove our leather socks for three nights and their days except in the case of major ritual impurity. But for defecation or urination, no.'
