حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ، قَالَ: نَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ قَالَ: نَا أَبُو الْمَلِيحِ الرَّقِّيُّ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ. عَنْ جَدِّهِ وَكَانَتْ لَهُ صُحْبَةٌ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ:
إِنَّ الْعَبْدَ إِذَا سَبَقَتْ لَهُ مِنَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ مَنْزِلَةٌ لَمْ يَبْلُغْهَا بِعَمَلِهِ، ابْتَلَاهُ اللهُ فِي جَسَدِهِ أَوْ فِي مَالِهِ أَوْ فِي وَلَدِهِ، ثُمَّ صَبَّرَهُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ حَتَّى يُبْلِغَهُ مَنْزِلَتَهُ الَّتِي سَبَقَتْ لَهُ مِنَ اللهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ
Translation

✧ Indeed, when a servant has a station that has preceded from God, Mighty and Majestic, which he has not attained by his deeds, God afflicts him in his body, or in his wealth, or in his child. Then He gives him patience over that until He causes him to reach the station that had preceded for him from God, Mighty and Majestic.
