✧ His father was killed by the polytheists on the day of Uhud, then they mutilated him and cut off his nose and ear. Jabir said: I kept looking at him and at what was done to him. The Ansar came and covered him with a cloth. Then I uncovered the cloth, and when I saw what was done to him I cried out. The Ansar came and covered him with the cloth again, and they went to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said: O Messenger of Allah! Do you not see what Jabir is doing? He said: Leave him, for by Allah, the angels have not ceased to shade him with their wings. Later, I said: O Prophet of Allah, my father has left a debt upon himself. He said: When the dates are ripe, inform me. When the dates were ripe, I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he supplicated for him, and there was in his palm trees more than enough to pay his debt, and there remained surplus like what he used to have surplus.
