حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ الزِّيَادِيُّ قَالَ: نَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي بُدَيْلُ بْنُ مَيْسَرَةَ. عَنْ أَبِي عَطِيَّةَ قَالَ:

زَارَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ الْحُوَيْرِثِ فَقُلْنَا: لَوْ صَلَّيْتَ بِنَا، قَالَ لَنَا: لِيُصَلِّي إِمَامُكُمْ، وَسَأُخْبِرُكُمْ بِمَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ: إِذَا زَارَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ فَلَا يَؤُمَّنَّهُ، وَلَكِنْ يَؤُمُّهُمْ بَعْضُهُمْ

Translation

✧ Malik b. al-Huwayrith visited us and we said: If only you would lead us in prayer. He said to us: Let your imam lead the prayer, and I will tell you what I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: When one of you visits his brother, he should not lead him in prayer, but one of them should lead the others.
