حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ قَالَ: نَا مُحَمَّدٌ قَالَ: نَا مُوسَى قَالَ: حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو مُوسَى الصَّفَّارُ قَالَ:
سَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ أَوْ سُئِلَ: أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ فَقَالَ: سُئِلَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: " الْمَاءُ، فَقُلْتُ: يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ، أَيُّ الصَّدَقَةِ أَفْضَلُ ؟ قَالَ: " الْمَاءُ، أَلَا تَرَى أَهْلَ النَّارِ إِذَا اسْتَغَاثُوا بِأَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ، قَالُوا: أَفِيضُوا عَلَيْنَا مِنَ الْمَاءِ أَوْ مِمَّا رَزَقَكُمُ اللهُ
Translation

✧ I asked Ibn Abbas, or he was asked: 'Which charity is best?' He said: 'The Prophet ﷺ was asked: "Which charity is best?" He said: "Water." I said: "O Prophet of God, which charity is best?" He said: "Water. Do you not see that when the people of the Fire call for help to the people of Paradise, they say: Pour upon us some water or whatever God has provided you?"'
