"عَن أَبِى وَائِل قَالَ: كَانَ عَبْدُ اللهِ يُقل الصَّوْمَ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ: فَقَالَ: إِنِّى إِذَا صُمْتُ ضَعُفتُ عَنْ قِرَاءةِ القُرآنِ، وَقَراءة القُرآن أَحَبُّ إِلى مِنْ الصَّومِ".
Translation
Chain of narrators
- Abiá Wāʾil
ʿAbdullāh used to fast very little. ˹Concern˺ was mentioned to him so he said: When I have fasted, I become weak in reciting the Qurʾān, and reciting the Qurʾān is more beloved to me than fasting.
