عَنْ عَلِىٍّ قَالَ:
تَفَرَّقَتِ الْيَهُودُ عَلَى إِحْدَى وَسَبْعينَ فِرْقَةً، وَالنَّصَارَى عَلَى ثِنْتَيْنِ وَسَبْعِينَ فِرْقَةً، وَأَنْتُمْ عَلَى ثَلاَثٍ وَسَبْعِينَ، وَإنَّ مِنْ أَضَلِّهَا وَأَخْبَثِهَا مَنْ يَتَشَيَّعُ، أَوِ الشِّيعَةَ ".
Translation
Chain of narrators
- ʿAli b. Abū Ṭālib
✧ Ali said: "The Jews divided into seventy-one sects, and the Christians into seventy-two sects, and you will divide into seventy-three sects. And among the most misguided and wicked of them are those who follow Shi'ism, or the Shia."
