أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، نَا أَبُو عُمَرَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَاحِدِ الزَّاهِدُ صَاحِبُ ثَعْلَبٍ، نَا مُوسَى بْنُ سَهْلٍ، نَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الْعَلَاءِ بْنُ الشِّخِّيرِ، حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمٍ،
قَالَ: وَلَا أَحْسِبُهُ إِلَّا وَقَدْ رَأَى نَبِيَّ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَامُ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " إِنَّ اللهَ يَبْتَلِي عَبْدَهُ بِمَا أَعْطَاهُ، فَمَنْ رَضِيَ بِمَا قَسَمَ اللهُ لَهُ بَارَكَ لَهُ فِيهِ وَوَسَّعَهُ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَرْضَ لَمْ يُبَارِكْ لَهُ فِيهِ "

قَالَ الْإِمَامُ أَحْمَدُ: " كَانَ فِي كِتَابِ الْحَاكِمِ أَبِي عَبْدِ اللهِ أَحْمَدُ بِالدَّالِ، وَكَانَ يَتَوَهَّمُهُ تَصْحِيفًا وَيَحْسِبُهُ أَحْمَرَ بِالرَّاءِ، وَأَنَا أَحْسِبُهُ أَحْمَدَ بْنَ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ بِالرَّاءِ. ذَكَرَهُ ابْنُ مَنْدَهٍ فِي الصَّحَابَةِ " وَقَدْ رَوَاهُ حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ يُونُسَ، قَالَ: عَنْ رَجُلٍ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ، قَالَ: قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: فَذَكَرَهُ، فَيُحْتَمَلُ أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ عَنْ أَحَدِ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ فَوَقَعَ فِي كِتَابِ شَيْخِنَا أَحْمَدُ
