Machine translation, not reviewed

He said: When death came to ʿUbādah, he said: "Bring my bed out to the courtyard" - meaning the house - then he said: "Gather to me my freedmen, my servants, my neighbors, and those who used to visit me." So they gathered for him, and he said: "I see this day of mine only as the last day that will come to me from this world and the first night of the Hereafter. And I do not know, perhaps something may have slipped from me towards you, by my hand or by my tongue. And by the One in whose hand is my soul, it is retribution on the Day of Resurrection. So I urge any one of you who has anything of that in himself to take retribution from me before my soul departs." He said: They said: Rather, you were a father and you were a teacher. He said: And he never said an evil word to a servant. Then he said: "Have you forgiven me for whatever occurred of that?" They said: Yes. He said: "O Allah, bear witness." Then he said: "As for me, keep my will: I urge any one of you not to weep. When my soul has departed, perform ablution and perform the ablution well, then let each one of you enter a mosque and pray, then seek forgiveness for ʿUbādah and for himself, for Allah, Blessed and Exalted, said: {اسْتَعِينُوا بِالصَّبْرِ وَالصَّلَاةِ} [al-Baqarah: 153]. Then hasten with me to my grave, and let no fire follow me, and do not place beneath me a crimson cloth."
