أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ, أنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ شَوْذَبٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ, نا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ, نا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ, نا زَكَرِيَّا, عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ, عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي الْخَلِيلِ,
قَالَ: قَالَ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ: " سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَسْتَغْفِرُ لِوَالِدَيْهِ وَهُمَا مُشْرِكَانِ, فَقُلْتُ: لِمَ تَسْتَغْفِرُ لِوَالِدَيْكَ وَهُمَا مُشْرِكَانِ؟ " قَالَ: أَلَيْسَ اسْتَغْفَرَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ لِأَبِيهِ, وَكَانَ مُشْرِكًا فَنَزَلَتْ: {وَمَا كَانَ اسْتِغْفَارُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ لِأَبِيهِ إِلَّا عَنْ مَوْعِدَةٍ وَعَدَهَا إِيَّاهُ} [التوبة: 114] الْآيَةُ
