أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى السُّكَّرِيُّ، بِبَغْدَادَ، أنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الشَّافِعِيُّ، نا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْأَزْهَرِ، نا الْمُفَضَّلُ بْنُ غَسَّانَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، نا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ، نا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ،
قَالَ: " نُعِيَ يَعْلَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ - وَكَانَ مَوْلًى لِثَقِيفٍ مِنَ الشَّامِ إِلَى أُمِّهِ، وَلَمْ يَكُنْ لَهُ ههُنَا أَحَدٌ غَيْرُهَا فَأَتَى أَيُّوبُ بَابَهَا ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ، فَتَقْعُدُ مَعَهُ قَالَ: وَلَمْ يَزَلْ يَصِلُهَا حَتَّى مَاتَتْ قَالَ: وَكَانَتْ تَأْتِي مَنْزِلَهُ فَتَبِيتُ عِنْدَهُ، قُلْتُ: وَهَذَا الَّذِي فَعَلَهُ أَيُّوبُ السَّخْتِيَانِيُّ يَدْخُلُ فِي كَرَمِ الْعَهْدِ "
