وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَلِيٍّ الرُّوذْبَارِيُّ، قَالَ: أنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ دَاسَةَ، قَالَ: نا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ: نا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى، قَالَ: نا مَطَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الْأَعْنَقُ،
قَالَ: حَدَّثَتْنِي أُمُّ أَبَانَ بِنْتُ الْوَازِعِ بْنِ زَارِعٍ، عَنْ جَدِّهَا زَارِعٍ، وَكَانَ فِي وَفْدِ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ، قَالَ: لَمَّا قَدِمْنَا الْمَدِينَةَ فَجَعَلْنَا نَتَبَادَرُ مِنْ رَوَاحِلِنَا فَنُقَبِّلُ يَدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَرِجْلَهُ، وَانْتَظَرَ الْمُنْذِرُ الْأَشَجُّ حَتَّى أَتَى عَيْبَتَهُ، فَلَبِسَ ثَوْبَهُ، ثُمَّ أَتَى النَّبِيَّ ﷺ، فَقَالَ لَهُ: " إِنَّ فِيكَ خَلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللهُ: الْحِلْمُ، وَالْأَنَاةُ "، قَالَ: يَا رَسُولُ إِنَّا لَنُخْلَقُ بِهِمَا أَمِ اللهُ جَبَلَنِي عَلَيْهِمَا؟، قَالَ: " بَلِ اللهُ جَبَلَكَ عَلَيْهِمَا "، قَالَ: الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي جَبَلَنِي عَلَى خَلَّتَيْنِ يُحِبُّهُمَا اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ وَرُوِّينَا عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ: " أَنَّ جَعْفَرَ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ لَمَّا قَدِمَ مِنَ الْحَبَشَةِ ضَمَّهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ، وَقَبَّلَ مَا بَيْنَ عَيْنَيْهِ ". " وَقَدْ ذَكَرْنَا هَذِهِ الْأَحَادِيثَ وَمَا يَتَّصِلُ بِهَا فِي الرَّابِعِ مِنْ كِتَابِ النِّكَاحِ مِنْ كِتَابِ السُّنَنِ "

Zāriʿ narrated to me, from her grandfather Zāriʿ, who was among the delegation of ʿAbd al-Qays, who said: When we came to Medina, we hurried down from our mounts and kissed the hand of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and his foot. But al-Mundhir al-Ashajj waited until he came to his bag, put on his garment, and then came to the Prophet ﷺ. He said to him: "In you are two qualities that Allah loves: forbearance and deliberateness." He said: O Messenger of Allah, was I created with them, or did Allah form me upon them? He said: "Rather, Allah formed you upon them." He said: Praise be to Allah who formed me upon two qualities that Allah and His Messenger love. And we have narrated from al-Shaʿbī: "That when Jaʿfar b. Abī Ṭālib came from Abyssinia, the Prophet ﷺ embraced him and kissed him between his eyes." "We have mentioned these hadiths and what is connected with them in the fourth part of the Book of Marriage in the Book of the Sunan."
