He said: While we were gathered with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, a young man appeared from a mountain pass. When we saw him with our own eyes, we said: "If only this young man had devoted his youth, his vigor and his strength to the cause of Allah, Mighty and Majestic!" The Prophet ﷺ heard what we said and said: "Is the cause of Allah only for the one who is killed? Whoever strives for his parents, he is in the cause of Allah; whoever strives for his dependents, he is in the cause of Allah; and whoever strives for himself to keep himself chaste, he is in the cause of Allah." He said: And I think he said: "For his parents, to make them self-sufficient, and for his dependents, to make them self-sufficient."
