He said: "There was a man who had four sons. He fell ill, and one of them said: Either you nurse him and you will have no share of his inheritance, or I will nurse him and I will have no share of his inheritance. They said: Rather, you nurse him, and you will have no share of his inheritance. He said: So he nursed him until he died, and he took nothing from his wealth. He said: Then he was visited in a dream and it was said to him: Go to such and such a place and take from it a hundred dinars. In his dream he said: Is there blessing in it? They said: No. In the morning he mentioned that to his wife, and she said to him: Take it, for part of its blessing is that you will be clothed from it and live from it. He said: But he refused. When evening came he was visited in a dream and it was said to him: Go to such and such a place and take from it ten dinars. He said: Is there blessing in it? They said: No. When he woke he mentioned that to his wife, and she said to him the same as her first statement, but he refused to take it. Then on the third night he was visited in a dream: Go to such and such a place and take from it one dinar. He said: Is there blessing in it? They said: Yes. So he went and took the dinar, then went out with it to the market, and there was a man carrying two fish. He said: How much is this? He said: One dinar. So he took them from him for the dinar and went off with them. When he entered his house he split open the two fish and found in the belly of each one a pearl the like of which people had never seen. The king sent for a pearl to buy, and it was not found except with him, so he sold it for the load of thirty mules of gold. When the king saw it, he said: This is only fitting with its sister, so seek one like it even if you must pay double. He said: So they came to him and said: Do you have its sister? We will give you double what we gave you. He said: Will you do that? They said: Yes. So he gave them its sister for double what he had taken for the first."
