Machine translation, not reviewed

He said: It has reached me that Khālid b. Ṣafwān entered upon ʿUmar, and ʿUmar b. ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz said to him: "Admonish me, O Khālid." He said: "Indeed, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, was not pleased for anyone to be above you, so He is not pleased for anyone to be more deserving of gratitude than you." He said: ʿUmar wept until he fainted, then he recovered and said: "Go on, O Khālid. He was not pleased for anyone to be above me. By Allah, I will fear Him with true fear, I will be wary of Him with true wariness, I will hope in Him with true hope, I will love Him with true love, I will thank Him with true gratitude, and I will praise Him with true praise. All of that will be the utmost of my effort and the limit of my capacity. And I will strive in justice and fairness, and in renouncing the perishing things of this world because of their passing, and in desiring the lasting things of the Hereafter because of their permanence, until I meet Allah, Mighty and Majestic. Perhaps I will be saved with those who are saved, and succeed with those who succeed." And he wept until he fainted. He said: I left him unconscious and departed.
