أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، قَالُوا: نا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ، نا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، نا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ الْأَنْبَارِيُّ الْعَابِدُ قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ فُضَيْلَ بْنَ عِيَاضٍ،
يَقُولُ: لَمَّا قَدِمَ الرَّشِيدُ بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ، فَذَكَرَ الْحَدِيثَ فِي دُخُولِهِ عَلَيْهِ وَقَوْلِهِ: عِظْنَا بِشَيْءٍ مِنْ عِلْمٍ، فَأَقْبَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ فَقُلْتُ لَهُ: " يَا حَسَنَ الْوَجْهِ، حِسَابُ هَذَا الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمْ عَلَيْكَ " قَالَ: فَجَعَلَ يَبْكِي وَيَشْهَقُ، قَالَ: فَرَدَّدْتُهَا عَلَيْهِ: " يَا حَسَنَ الْوَجْهِ، حِسَابُ هَذَا الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمْ عَلَيْكَ " قَالَ: فَأَخَذَنِي الْخَدَمُ فَحَمَلُونِي وَأَخْرَجُونِي مِنَ الْحُجَرِ وَقَالُوا: يَا هَذَا اذْهَبْ بِسَلَامٍ
