That the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Avoid the seven destructive sins." They said: "O Messenger of Allah, what are they?" He said: "Associating partners with Allah, sorcery, killing the soul that Allah has forbidden except by right, consuming usury, consuming the property of the orphan, turning back on the day of battle, and slandering chaste, unwary believing women."

machine translationAl-Bukhārī narrated it in al-Ṣaḥīḥ, from ʿAbd al-ʿAzīz al-Uwaysī. Muslim also transmitted it by another route, from Sulaymān. Al-Ḥalīmī, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Just as it is not lawful for anyone to slander a chaste, innocent woman, so too it is not proper for him to slander one who is not innocent, for that harms her and tears away her covering," and he elaborated on this. We have narrated the reports that came concerning concealing the faults of those liable to the prescribed punishments at the end of the Book of Prescribed Punishments (Kitāb al-Ḥudūd) in Kitāb al-Sunan, among them the ḥadīth of Ibn ʿUmar, that the Prophet ﷺ said: "Whoever conceals a Muslim, Allah will conceal him on the Day of Resurrection."
