machine translationʿAlī b. Aḥmad b. ʿAbdān informed us: Aḥmad b. ʿUbayd al-Ṣaffār informed us: Ismāʿīl b. al-Faḍl al-Balkhī narrated to us: Umayyah b. Bisṭām narrated to me: Muʿtamir narrated to us, he said: I heard ʿAbd al-Malik b. Abī Jamīlah narrating from Abū Bakr b. Mūsā, from Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah.

He said: The Prophet of Allah ﷺ said: "O Kaʿb, how will you fare when there are rulers over you? Whoever enters upon them and believes them in their lies and helps them in their wrongdoing is not of me, and I am not of him, and he will not come to me at my Pond. O Kaʿb, no flesh and no blood that grew from unlawful earnings will enter Paradise; every flesh and blood that grew from unlawful earnings, the Fire is more deserving of it. O Kaʿb, people are of two kinds, each going out in the morning and returning in the evening: one who goes out in the morning to ransom his own neck and so frees it, and one who goes out and so destroys it. O Kaʿb, prayer is a proof, fasting is a shield, and charity removes sin as frozen water melts away from the smooth rock." The Shaykh said: "So it was in the book: Abū Bakr b. Abī Mūsā, but I think he is Abū Bakr b. Bushayr b. Kaʿb b. ʿUjrah."
