Concerning the saying of Allah, Mighty and Majestic: {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَكْتُمُونَ مَا أَنْزَلْنَا مِنَ الْبَيِّنَاتِ وَالْهُدَى} [al-Baqarah: 159] He said: I heard al-Kalbī say: "They are the Jews." He said: "Whoever curses something that does not deserve it, the curse returns upon a Jew. That is His saying, the Exalted: {وَيَلْعَنُهُمُ اللَّاعِنُونَ} [al-Baqarah: 159]." Al-Shaykh Aḥmad said: "If he took this from a reliable source, then in it is a concession for one whose tongue slipped into cursing someone who did not deserve it, without intending to. So may Allah forgive us our sins by His mercy."
