Machine translation, not reviewed

"Luqmān said to his son: 'My son, I have carried rocks and iron and everything heavy, and I found nothing heavier than a bad neighbour. And I have tasted bitter things, and I tasted nothing more bitter than poverty. My son, do not send an ignorant man as your messenger; if you cannot find a wise one, then be your own messenger. My son, beware of lying, for it is tempting like the meat of a sparrow, but before long it makes its owner hated. My son, attend funerals and do not attend weddings, for funerals remind you of the Hereafter, while weddings stir in you longing for this world. My son, do not eat when you are full upon fullness, for if you throw it to the dog, that is better than eating it. My son, do not be sweet, or you will be swallowed, nor bitter, or you will be spat out.'"
