أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ الْفَقِيهُ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ الْمَرْثَدِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا خَلَفُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ، ح، وَأَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو صَالِحِ بْنِ أَبِي طَاهِرٍ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَدِّي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ الْقَاضِي، حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ، حَدَّثَنَا حَامِدُ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ حَفْصٍ الْبَكْرَاوِيُّ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِهِ الضَّبِّيُّ، قَالُوا حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو جمرةَ، قَالَ: سَمِعْتُ ابْنَ عَبَّاسٍ،
يَقُولُ: قَدِمَ وَفْدُ عَبْدِ الْقَيْسِ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ، فَقَالُوا: يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّا هَذَا الْحَيُّ مِنْ رَبِيعَةَ، وَقَدْ حَالَت بَيْنَنَا وَبَيْنَكَ كُفَّارُ مُضَرَ وَلَسْنَا نَخْلُصُ إِلَيْكَ إِلَّا فِي شَهْرِ حَرَامٍ، فَمُرْنَا بِشَيْءٍ نَأْخُذُ عَنْكَ وَنَدْعُو إِلَيْهِ مَنْ وَرَاءَنَا. قَالَ: " آمُرُكُمْ بِأَرْبَعٍ وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنْ أَرْبَعٍ: الْإِيمَانِ بِاللهِ، شَهَادَةِ أَنَّ لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللهُ، وَإِقَامِ الصَّلَاةِ، وَإِيتَاءِ الزَّكَاةِ، وَأَنْ تُؤَدُّوا خُمُسَ مَا غَنِمْتُمْ، وَأَنْهَاكُمْ عَنِ الدُّبَّاءِ، وَالْحَنْتَمِ، وَالنَّقِيرِ، وَالْمُزَفَّتِ ". " هَذَا لَفْظُ حَدِيثِ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ عَبْدَةَ ".

He said: "I command you with four and forbid you from four: belief in God, the testimony that there is no god but God, establishing the prayer, giving the zakāh, and that you pay the fifth of what you take as spoils. And I forbid you from the gourd (dubbāʾ), the green jar (ḥantam), the hollowed palm trunk (naqīr), and the pitch-coated vessel (muzaffat)." This is the wording of the hadith of Aḥmad b. ʿAbdah.
