I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ mention jihad, and he said: "Indeed, Satan sat in wait for the son of Adam on his paths, and he sat in wait for him on the path of Islam." Then he mentioned it in a similar way, except that in the mention of the hijrah he added: "and your place of birth, so you would leave your dependants to be lost." And he also mentioned in the matter of jihad: "and your dependants would be lost." He did not mention the likeness of the emigrant. And at the end he said: "Whoever does that and falls from his mount and dies, his reward is incumbent upon Allah; and if a creature stings him and he dies, his reward is incumbent upon Allah; and if he drowns and dies, his reward is incumbent upon Allah; and if he is killed by being thrown down and broken (waqṣan) - meaning, held captive and killed (ṣabran) - then it is a right upon Allah that He admit him to Paradise."
