A man from among the Companions of the Prophet ﷺ passed by a mountain pass in which there was a small spring of sweet water, and its goodness pleased him. He said: "If only I were to stay in this pass and withdraw from the people and from work." He said: "But not until I seek the permission of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ." So that was mentioned to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said: "Do not do that, for the standing of one of you in the path of Allah is better than his praying in his home for sixty years. Do you not love that Allah forgive you and admit you to Paradise? Fight in the path of Allah. Whoever fights in the path of Allah for the time between two milkings of a she-camel, Paradise becomes obligatory for him."
