He said: "God, Mighty and Majestic, revealed to Moses, peace be upon him: I have made fasting obligatory upon My servants, and it is the month of Ramadan. O Moses, whoever arrives at the Resurrection with ten Ramadans in his record is among the substitutes (abdāl); and whoever arrives at the Resurrection with twenty Ramadans in his record is among the humble (mukhbitīn); and whoever arrives at the Resurrection with thirty Ramadans in his record is among the best of the martyrs with Me in reward. O Moses, when the month of Ramadan enters, I command the bearers of the Throne to hold back from worship, and whenever those who fast Ramadan make a supplication, to say: Amen. And I have made it binding upon Myself that I will not reject the supplication of those who fast Ramadan." And with his chain of transmission, from Kaʿb al-Aḥbār, he said: "God revealed to Moses, peace be upon him: O Moses, in Ramadan I inspire the heavens, the earth, the mountains, the birds, the animals and the crawling creatures to seek forgiveness for those who fast Ramadan. O Moses, seek out three of those who fast Ramadan, pray with them, and eat and drink with them, for I do not send down My punishment or My vengeance upon a place in which there are three of those who fast Ramadan. O Moses, if you are travelling, come back; and if you are ill, order them to carry you; and tell the women, the menstruating women and the small children to come out with you where those who fast Ramadan come out at the end of Ramadan. For if I permitted My heaven and My earth, they would greet them, speak to them and give them glad tidings of what I will reward them with. I say: My servants who fasted Ramadan, return to your mounts, for you have pleased Me. I have made your reward for your fasting that I free you from the Fire, that I take you to account with an easy reckoning, that I pardon your stumbling, that I replace your spending, and that I do not disgrace you before anyone. By My might, you will not ask Me for anything after the fasting of Ramadan, in this standing place of yours, concerning your Hereafter, but I will give it to you; and you will not ask Me for anything of the affairs of your worldly life but I will look after you."
