He said: When the month of Ramadan approached, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Glory be to Allah! What is it that you are about to receive, and what is it that is about to receive you?" ʿUmar b. al-Khaṭṭāb said: "May my father and mother be your ransom, O Messenger of Allah, is it a revelation that has come down, or an enemy that has arrived?" He said: "No, rather it is the month of Ramadan. In its first night Allah forgives all the people of this qiblah." He said: And among the people was a man who was shaking his head and saying: "Bakhin, bakhin!" So the Prophet ﷺ said to him: "It seems that your chest has become tight at what you heard." He said: "No, by Allah, O Messenger of Allah, but I remembered the hypocrite." The Prophet ﷺ said: "The hypocrite is a disbeliever, and there is nothing for him in that."
