He said: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Seven things whose reward continues to flow to a servant in his grave after his death: whoever taught knowledge, or dug out a river, or dug a well, or planted a palm tree, or built a mosque, or bequeathed a copy of the Qur'an, or left behind a child who seeks forgiveness for him after his death." Muḥammad b. ʿUbaydillāh al-ʿArzamī is weak (ḍaʿīf), except that what testifies to part of it has preceded it, and Allah knows best. These two do not contradict the authentic hadith, for it says: "except from an ongoing charity," and that gathers what came in the additions. Al-Bayhaqī, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Among them is that he gives in charity of the most beloved of his wealth to him, and the most precious of it in his estimation."
