From the Messenger of Allah ﷺ: that while he was sitting among the people, a man came to him and spoke to him privately, and we did not know what he had said to him privately, until the Messenger of Allah ﷺ spoke aloud, and behold, the man was asking his permission to kill one of the hypocrites. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said when he spoke aloud: "Does he not testify that there is no god but Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah?" The man said: "Yes, O Messenger of Allah, but his testimony is worthless." He said: "Does he not pray?" He said: "Yes, but his prayer is worthless." So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Those are the ones whom Allah has forbidden me to kill."
