أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْحَسَنِ، حدثنا أَبُو الْعَبَّاسِ هُوَ الْأَصَمُّ، حدثنا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الدُّورِيُّ، حدثنا مُحَاضِرٌ، حدثنا الْأَعْمَشُ، عَنْ شَقِيقِ بْنِ سَلَمَةَ
قَالَ: جَاءَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَجِيلَةَ يُقَالُ لَهُ: نَهِيكُ بْنُ سِنَانٍ إِلَى عَبْدِ اللهِ، فَقَالَ: يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ، كَيْفَ تَقْرَأُ هَذَا الْحَرْفَ؟ أَيَاءً تجدهَا أَوْ أَلْفًا؟ مَاءٍ غَيْرِ آسِنٍ، أَوْ يَاسِنٍ قَالَ: " كُلَّ الْقُرْآنِ أَحْصَيْتَ غَيْرَ هَذَا " قَالَ: إِنِّي أَقْرَأُ الْمُفَصَّلَ فِي رَكْعَةٍ، قَالَ: " هَذًّا كَهَذِّ الشِّعْرِ إِنَّ قَوْمًا يَقْرَؤُونَ الْقُرْآنَ لَا يُجَاوِزُ تَرَاقِيَهُمْ، فَإِذَا وَقَعَ فِي الْقَلْبِ فَرَسَخَ نَفَعَ، إِنَّ مِنْ أَفْضَلِ الصَّلَاةِ الرُّكُوعُ وَالسُّجُودُ، وَإِنِّي لَأَعْلَمُ النَّظَائِرَ الَّتِي كَانَ يَقْرَأُ بِهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ سُورَتَيْنِ فِي كُلِّ رَكْعَةٍ، ثُمَّ قَامَ فَدَخَلَ مَعَهُ فَخَرَجَ عَلَيْنَا عَلْقَمَةُ " قَالَ: فَقَالَ: مِنَ الْعِشْرِينَ الْأُولَى مِنَ الْمُفَصَّلِ عَلَى تَأْلِيفِ عَبْدِ اللهِ، سُورَةُ الرَّحْمَنِ نَظيرُهَا عَمَّ يَتَسَاءَلُونَ فخَرَّجَ فِي الصَّحِيحِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْأَعْمَشِ

He said: A man from Bajīlah called Nahīk b. Sinān came to ʿAbdullāh and said: "O Abū ʿAbd al-Raḥmān, how do you recite this word? Do you find it with a yā' or with an alif: {مَاءٍ غَيْرِ آسِنٍ} or {يَاسِنٍ}?" He said: "Have you memorized all of the Qur'an except this?" He said: "I recite the Mufaṣṣal in one rak'ah." He said: "Hurriedly, like the hurried recitation of poetry! There are people who recite the Qur'an and it does not pass beyond their collarbones. But when it settles in the heart and takes root, it benefits. Among the best of prayer are bowing and prostration. And I know the similar pairs of surahs that the Messenger of God ﷺ used to recite, two surahs in each rak'ah." Then he got up and ʿAlqamah entered with him, and then ʿAlqamah came out to us. He said: He said: "From the first twenty of the Mufaṣṣal in the arrangement of ʿAbdullāh: Surat al-Raḥmān, its counterpart is 'ʿAmma yatasā'alūn'." It is reported in the Ṣaḥīḥ from the hadith of al-Aʿmash.
