Machine translation, not reviewed

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say to his Companions: "Whoever among you has seen a dream, let him relate it and I will interpret it for him." Then a man came and mentioned the hadith, except that he said: Abū Bakr said: O Messenger of Allah, permit me to interpret it. He said: "Interpret it." And he was the most skilled of the people in interpreting dreams after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: As for the shade, it is Islam; as for the honey and the ghee, it is the Quran, the sweetness of honey and the softness of milk; and as for those who take from it in their hands, one taking much and one taking little, they are the bearers of the Quran.

Notes

machine translationMuslim narrated it from ʿAbdullāh b. ʿAbd al-Raḥmān al-Dārimī, from Muḥammad b. Kathīr. Al-Bayhaqī, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Some of the people of knowledge claimed that the error lies in his interpreting the honey and the ghee as one thing, which is the Quran, whereas they are two things; it would have been proper to interpret one of them as the Quran and the other as the Sunnah. And Allah knows best."
