أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يُوسُفَ، أخبرنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى الطَّلْحِيُّ بِالْكُوفَةِ، أخبرنا أَبُو عُمَرَ عُثْمَانُ، عَنْ رَجُلٍ، عَنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ بْنِ رَافِعٍ،
قَالَ: قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ: " يَنْبَغِي لِحَامِلِ الْقُرْآنِ أَنْ يُعْرَفَ بِلَيْلِهِ إِذِ النَّاسُ نَائِمُونَ، وَبِنَهَارِهِ إِذِ النَّاسُ مُفَرِّطُونَ، وَبِحُزْنِهِ إِذِ النَّاسُ يَفْرَحُونَ، وَبِبُكَائِهِ إِذِ النَّاسُ يَخْتَالُونَ "
