أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَافِظُ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَعِيدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ يَعْقُوبَ الثَّقَفِيُّ، وَأَبُو مُحَمَّدٍ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُوسَى الْعَدْلُ، قَالَا: حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَيُّوبَ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَاصِمٍ الْعَبَّادَانِيُّ، عَنِ الْفَضْلِ بْنِ عِيسَى، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ،
عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ: " يَدْعُو اللهُ بِالْمُؤْمِنِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ حَتَّى يُوقِفَهُ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ، فَيَقُولُ: عَبْدِي، إِنِّي أَمَرْتُكَ أَنْ تَدْعُوَنِي؟ وَوَعَدْتُكَ أَنْ أَسْتَجِيبَ لَكَ، فَهَلْ كُنْتَ تَدْعُونِي؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ، يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: أَمَا إِنَّكَ لَمْ تَدْعُنِي بِدَعْوَةٍ إِلَّا اسْتَجَبْتُ لَكَ، أَلَيْسَ دَعَوْتَنِي فِي يَوْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَا لِغَمٍّ نَزَلَ بِكَ أَنْ أُفَرِّجَهُ عَنْكَ فَفَرَّجْتُهُ عَنْكَ؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: إِنِّي عَجَّلْتُهَا لَكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَدَعَوْتَنِي يَوْمَ كَذَا وَكَذَا لِغَمٍّ نَزَلَ بِكَ أَنْ أُفَرِّجَ عَنْكَ فَلَمْ تَرَ فَرَجًا؟ قَالَ: نَعَمْ يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: إِنِّي ادَّخَرْتُ لَكَ بِهَا فِي الْجَنَّةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا، وَدَعَوْتَنِي فِي حَاجَةٍ أَقْضِيهَا لَكَ فِي يَوْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَضَيْتُهَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: فَإِنِّي عَجَّلْتُهَا لَكَ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَدَعَوْتَنِي فِي يَوْمِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فِي حَاجَةٍ أَقْضِيهَا فَلَمْ تَرَ قَضَاءَهَا؟ فَيَقُولُ: نَعَمْ يَا رَبِّ، فَيَقُولُ: إِنِّي ادَّخَرْتُهَا لَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ كَذَا وَكَذَا "، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ: " فَلَا يَدَعُ اللهُ دَعْوَةً دَعَا بِهَا عَبْدُهُ الْمُؤْمِنُ إِلَّا بَيَّنَ لَهُ إِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ عَجَّلَ لَهُ فِي الدُّنْيَا، وَإِمَّا أَنْ يَكُونَ ادَّخَرَ لَهُ فِي الْآخِرَةِ " قَالَ: " فَيَقُولُ الْمُؤْمِنُ فِي ذَلِكَ الْمَقَامِ: يَا لَيْتَهُ لَمْ يَكُنْ عُجِّلَ لَهُ شَيْءٌ مِنْ دُعَائِهِ "

From the Prophet ﷺ, who said: "On the Day of Resurrection Allah will call the believer until He makes him stand before Him, and He will say: 'My servant, I commanded you to call upon Me, and I promised you that I would answer you. Did you call upon Me?' He will say: 'Yes, my Lord.' He will say: 'You never called upon Me with a supplication but I answered you. Did you not call upon Me on such and such a day, because of a distress that had befallen you, that I relieve it from you, and I relieved it from you?' He will say: 'Yes, my Lord.' He will say: 'I hastened it for you in the world. And you called upon Me on such and such a day, because of a distress that had befallen you, that I relieve you of it, and you saw no relief?' He will say: 'Yes, my Lord.' He will say: 'I stored up for you in Paradise such and such because of it. And you called upon Me for a need that I fulfil for you on such and such a day, and I fulfilled it?' He will say: 'Yes, my Lord.' He will say: 'I hastened it for you in the world. And you called upon Me on such and such a day for a need that I fulfil, and you did not see it fulfilled?' He will say: 'Yes, my Lord.' He will say: 'I stored it up for you in Paradise, such and such.'" The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Allah does not leave any supplication that His believing servant called upon Him with, without making clear to him either that He hastened it for him in the world, or that He stored it up for him in the Hereafter." He said: "Then the believer in that standing will say: 'Would that nothing of his supplication had been hastened for him!'"
