وَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْحُسَيْنِ، نَا أَبُو عُقَيْلٍ زَيْدُ بْنُ عُقَيْلٍ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ ثَابِتٍ الْعَبْدِيُّ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ وَاسِعٍ
قَالَ: قَالَ خُلَيْدٌ الْعَصَرِيُّ: " كُلُّنَا قَدْ أَيْقَنَ بِالْمَوْتِ، وَمَا نَرَى لَهُ مُسْتَعِدًّا، وَكُلُّنَا قَدْ أَيْقَنَ بِالْجَنَّةِ، وَمَا نَرَى لَهَا عَامِلًا، وَكُلُّنَا قَدْ أَيْقَنَ بِالنَّارِ، وَمَا نَرَى لَهَا خَائِفًا، فَعَلَى مَا تُعَرِّجُونَ؟، وَمَا عَسَيْتُمْ تَنْتَظِرُونَ؟ الْمَوْتُ فَهُوَ أَوَّلُ وَارِدٍ عَلَيْكُمْ مِنَ اللهِ بِخَيْرٍ أَوْ شَرٍّ، فَيَا إِخْوَتَاهْ سِيرُوا إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ سَيْرًا جَمِيلًا "
