حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ عُمَيْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ قَالَ

أَشْعَرُ كَلِمَةٍ تَكَلَّمَتْ بِهَا الْعَرَبُ كَلِمَةُ لَبِيدٍ أَلا كُلُّ شَيْءٍ مَا خَلا اللَّهَ بَاطِلٌ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. ʿAlī b. Ḥujr
  2. Sharīk
  3. ʿAbd al-Malik b. ʿUmayr
  4. Abū Salamah
  5. Abū Hurayrah
  6. al-Nabī ﷺ

“As the Prophet said ﷺ:‘The most poetic saying spoken by the Arabs is the saying of Labid: “Everything but Allah is surely futile!'”
