حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا شَرِيكٌ عَنِ الْمِقْدَامِ بْنِ شُرَيْحٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ قَالَتْ

قِيلَ لَهَا هَلْ كَانَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ يَتَمَثَّلُ بِشَيْءٍ مِنَ الشِّعْرِ؟ قَالَتْ كَانَ يَتَمَثَّلُ بِشِعْرِ ابْنِ رَوَاحَةَ وَيَتَمَثَّلُ بِقَوْلِهِ يَأْتِيكَ بِالأَخْبَارِ مَنْ لَمْ تُزَوَّدِ

Translation

Chain of narrators

  3. al-Miqdām b. Shurayḥ
  4. his father
  5. ʿĀʾishah

"Was Allah’s Messenger ﷺ used to imitating any form of poetry?" She said: "He used to imitate the poetry of Ibn Rawaha, and he would imitate his saying: “You will be brought the news by someone whom you have not furnished with travel provisions.”
