Eating with Bread

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلاءِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ أَبِي حَمْزَةَ الثُّمَالِيِّ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أُمِّ هَانِئِ قَالَتْ

دَخَلَ عَلَيَّ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ فَقَالَ أَعِنْدَكِ شَيْءٌ؟ فَقُلْتُ لا إِلا خُبْزٌ يَابِسٌ وَخَلٌّ فَقَالَ هَاتِي مَا أَقْفَرَ بَيْتٌ مِنْ أُدُمٍ فِيهِ الخل

Translation

  5. Um Hāniʾ

"The Prophet ﷺ entered my presence and said: 'Do you have anything in your possession?' I said: 'No, apart from some dry bread and vinegar', so he said: 'Give me some! A household in which there is vinegar is not devoid of seasoning'!”
