✧ Interpretation of the saying of Allah Almighty {And when the Quran is recited, listen to it and be silent} [al-A'raf: 204]

أَخْبَرَنَا الْجَارُودُ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو خَالِدٍ الْأَحْمَرُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ إِنَّمَا جُعِلَ الْإِمَامُ لِيُؤْتَمَّ بِهِ فَإِذَا كَبَّرَ فَكَبِّرُوا وَإِذَا قَرَأَ فَأَنْصِتُوا وَإِذَا قَالَ سَمِعَ اللهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ فَقُولُوا اللهُمَّ رَبَّنَا لَكَ الْحَمْدُ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “The imam is appointed only to be followed. When he says the takbir, then say the takbir; when he recites, then be silent; and when he says ‘Allah hears the one who praises Him,’ then say, ‘O Allah, our Lord, to You belongs praise.’”
