أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ الْمُعَلِّمُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ بَشِيرِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ عَنْ شَدَّادِ بْنِ أَوْسٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ سَيِّدُ الِاسْتِغْفَارِ أَنْ يَقُولَ الْعَبْدُ اللهُمَّ أَنْتَ رَبِّي لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ خَلَقْتَنِي وَأَنَا عَبْدُكَ وَعَلَى عَهْدِكَ وَوَعْدِكَ مَا اسْتَطَعْتُ أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ شَرِّ مَا صَنَعْتُ أَبُوءُ لَكَ بِنِعْمَتِكَ وَأَبُوءُ لَكَ بِذَنْبِي فَاغْفِرْ لِي فَإِنَّهُ لَا يَغْفِرُ الذُّنُوبَ إِلَّا أَنْتَ فَإِنْ قَالَهَا بَعْدَمَا يُصْبِحُ مُوقِنًا فَمَاتَ مِنْ يَوْمِهِ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُمْسِيَ كَانَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ وَإنْ قَالَهَا حِينَ يُمْسِي فَمَاتَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُصْبِحَ كَانَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ خَالَفَهُ الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ ثَعْلَبَةَ رَوَاهُ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ بُرَيْدَةَ عَنْ أَبِيهِ
Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The master of seeking forgiveness is that the servant says: O Allah, You are my Lord, there is no deity except You. You created me and I am Your servant, and I abide by Your covenant and promise as best I can. I seek refuge in You from the evil of what I have done. I acknowledge Your favor upon me, and I acknowledge my sin, so forgive me, for none forgives sins except You.' If he says it after morning while certain, then dies that day before evening, he will be in Paradise. And if he says it in the evening and dies before morning, he will be in Paradise. Al-Walid b. Tha'labah differed from him; he narrated it from 'Abd Allah b. Buraydah from his father.
