al-Sunan al-Kubra (al-Nasa'i) 9555

✧ What men are allowed to wear in terms of silk.

أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْحَمِيدِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مَخْلَدٌ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ عَنْ وَبَرَةَ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ سُوَيْدِ بْنِ غَفَلَةَ قَالَ

قَالَ عُمَرُ «لَا يَحِلُّ أَوْ لَا يَنْبَغِي مِنَ الْحَرِيرِ إِلَّا هَكَذَا وَهَكَذَا إِصْبَعَيْنِ عَرَضًا أَوْ ثَلَاثَةً أَوْ أَرْبَعَةً فِي كَفَافٍ أَوْ زِرَارٍ» [414] تَابَعَهُ إِبْرَاهِيمُ النَّخَعِيُّ عَلَى ذَلِكَ

Translation

✧ Umar said: "It is not permissible, or it is not proper, to wear silk except like this and like this: two fingers in width, or three, or four, in a border or a button." [414] Ibrahim al-Nakha'i concurred with that.
