أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَوَانَةَ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ نَافِعٍ عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ

«أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ اتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ ذَهَبٍ وَكَانَ يَجْعَلُ فَصَّهُ فِي بَاطِنِ كَفِّهِ فَاتَّخَذَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَ مِنْ ذَهَبٍ فَطَرَحَهُ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَطَرَحَ النَّاسُ خَوَاتِيمَهُمْ وَاتَّخَذَ خَاتَمًا مِنْ فِضَّةٍ فَكَانَ يَخْتُمُ بِهِ وَلَا يَلْبَسُهُ»

✧ “The Messenger of Allah ﷺ acquired a gold ring and used to turn its stone toward the inside of his palm. The people acquired gold rings, so the Messenger of Allah ﷺ threw his away, and the people threw their rings away. He acquired a silver ring and used it for sealing but did not wear it.”
