✧ Prohibition of wearing a ring on the index finger.

أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمُ بْنُ كُلَيْبٍ عَنْ أَبِي بَكْرٍ قَالَ قَالَ عَلِيٌّ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا عَلِيُّ سَلِ اللهَ الْهُدَى وَالسَّدَادَ وَنَهَانِي أَنْ أَجْعَلَ الْخَاتَمَ فِي هَذِهِ وَهَذِهِ وَأَشَارَ يَعْنِي بِالسَّبَّابَةِ وَالْوُسْطَى» خَالَفَهُ أَبُو الْأَحْوَصِ سَلَامِ بْنِ سُلَيْمٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ أَبِي بُرْدَةَ

Translation

Chain of narrators

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "O Ali, ask Allah for guidance and moderation." And he forbade me from placing the ring on this one and this one, and he gestured, meaning the index finger and the middle finger. Abu al-Ahwas Sallam b. Sulaym differed from him; he narrated it from Asim, from Abu Burdah.
