أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ عَنْ يَحْيَى قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو شَيْخٍ الْهُنَائِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي حِمَّانَ

أَنَّ مُعَاوِيَةَ عَامَ حَجَّ جَمَعَ نَفَرًا مِنْ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فِي الْكَعْبَةِ فَقَالَ لَهُمْ «أَنْشُدُكُمُ اللهَ هَلْ نَهَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَنْ لُبْسِ الذَّهَبِ؟» قَالُوا نَعَمْ قَالَ «فَأَنَا أَشْهَدُ» خَالَفَهُ حَرْبُ بْنُ شَدَّادٍ رَوَاهُ عَنْ يَحْيَى عَنْ أَبِي شَيْخٍ عَنْ أَخِيهِ حِمَّانَ

✧ In the year he performed Hajj, Mu'awiyah gathered a number of the companions of the Messenger of God ﷺ in the Ka'bah and said to them, "I adjure you by God: did the Messenger of God ﷺ forbid wearing gold?" They said, "Yes." He said, "And I bear witness." Harb b. Shaddad disagreed with him, reporting it from Yahya from Abu Shaykh from his brother Himman.
