أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ سُلَيْمَانَ الْمُجَالِدِيُّ الْمِصِّيصِيُّ قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدَةُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ هُبَيْرَةَ بْنِ يَرِيمَ قَالَ

قَالَ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ «عَلَى قِرَاءَةِ مَنْ تَأْمُرونَنِي أَقْرَأُ لَقَدْ قَرَأْتُ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ بِضْعًا وَسَبْعِينَ سُورَةً وَإِنَّ زَيْدًا لِصَاحِبِ ذُؤَابَتَيْنِ يَلْعَبُ مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ» خَالَفَهُ أَبُو شِهَابٍ رَوَاهُ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ

✧ Abdullah b. Mas'ud ؓ said: "Upon whose recitation do you command me to recite? I have indeed recited to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ seventy-some surahs, and Zayd was a boy with two locks of hair playing with the children." Abu Shihab contradicted him; he narrated it from al-A'mash from Abu Wael from Ibn Mas'ud.
