✧ The license of a man to inform his family of what did not exist

أَخْبَرَنَا كَثِيرُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ الْحِمْصِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ عَنِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَنَّ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ ابْنَةَ عُقْبَةَ أَخْبَرَتْهُ

أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ فَيَقُولَ خَيْرًا أَوْ يُنَمِّيَ خَيْرًا وَلَمْ يُرَخِّصْ فِي شَيْءٍ مِمَّا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ إِنَّهُ كَذِبٌ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ «فِي الْحَرْبِ وَالْإِصْلَاحِ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَحَدِيثِ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ وَحَدِيثِ الْمَرْأَةِ زَوْجَهَا»

✧ that she heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: "The liar is not the one who makes peace between people and says good or conveys good." He did not permit anything of what people call lying except in three cases: "in war, making peace between people, and a man's talk with his wife and a woman's talk with her husband."
