أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ النَّسَائِيُّ وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ الْأَوْدِيُّ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّلْتِ الْكُوفِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُدَيْنَةَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْمُهَلَّبِ الْكُوفِيُّ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ السَّائِبِ عَنِ الْقَاسِمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ
مَرَّ يَهُودِيٌّ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ يُحَدِّثُ أَصْحَابَهُ قَالَ قَالَتْ قُرَيْشٌ يَا يَهُودِيُّ إِنَّ هَذَا يَزْعُمُ أَنَّهُ نَبِيٌّ فَقَالَ لَأَسْأَلَنَّهُ عَنْ شَيْءٍ لَا يَعْلَمُهُ إِلَّا نَبِيٌّ فَجَاءَ حَتَّى جَلَسَ فَقَالَ يَا مُحَمَّدُ مِمَّ يُخْلُقُ الْإِنْسَانُ؟ قَالَ يَا يَهُودِيُّ مِنْ كُلٍّ يُخْلَقُ مِنْ نُطْفَةِ الرَّجُلِ وَمِنْ نُطْفَةِ الْمَرْأَةِ فَأَمَّا نُطْفَةُ الرَّجُلِ فَنُطْفَةٌ غَلِيظَةٌ فَمِنْهَا الْعَظْمُ وَالْعَصَبُ وَأَمَّا نُطْفَةُ الْمَرْأَةِ فَنُطْفَةٌ رُقَيْقَةٌ فَمِنْهَا اللَّحْمُ وَالدَّمُ فَقَامَ الْيَهُودِيُّ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَحْمَدَ قَالَ أَبُو عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ عَطَاءُ بْنُ السَّائِبِ كَانَ قَدْ تَغَيَّرَ
Translation

- ʿAmr b. Manṣūr al-Nasāʾī And ʾAḥmad b. ʿUthmān b. Ḥakīm al-Awdī
✧ A Jew passed by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was talking to his companions. He said, “Quraysh said, ‘O Jew, this man claims to be a prophet.’ He said, ‘I will ask him about something that none knows except a prophet.’ He came and sat down and said, ‘O Muhammad, from what is the human created?’ He said, ‘O Jew, from both: he is created from the man’s semen and the woman’s semen. As for the man’s semen, it is thick; from it come bone and sinew. As for the woman’s semen, it is thin; from it come flesh and blood.’ The Jew stood up.” The wording is that of Ahmad. Abu Abd al-Rahman said: Ata b. al-Sa’ib had changed.
