أَخْبَرَنِي صَفْوَانُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عَيَّاشٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ عَنْ عُرْوَةَ عَنْ عَائِشَةَ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. Ṣafwān b. ʿAmr
  2. ʿAlī b. ʿAyyāsh
  3. Sufyān b. ʿUyaynah
  4. al-Zuhrī
  5. ʿUrwah
  6. ʿĀʾishah

when the prophet ﷺ intended to sleep while he was sexually defiled, he would perform ablution as he did for prayer. (Using translation from Abū Dāʾūd 222)
