أَخْبَرَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ يُونُسَ بْنِ مُحَمَّدِ حَرَمِيٌّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ ثَابِتٍ عَنْ أَنَسٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ كَانَتْ لَهُ أَمَةٌ يَطَؤُهَا فَلَمْ تَزَلْ بِهِ عَائِشَةُ وَحَفْصَةُ حَتَّى حَرَّمَهَا عَلَى نَفْسِهِ فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ تَعَالَى {يَا أَيُّهَا النَّبِيُّ لِمَ تُحَرِّمُ مَا أَحَلَّ اللهُ لَكَ} [التحريم 1] إِلَى آخِرِ الْآيَةِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ had a slave woman whom he used to have intercourse with. 'A'ishah and Hafsah kept at him until he made her forbidden upon himself. So Allah Most High revealed: {O Prophet, why do you prohibit what Allah has made lawful for you} [al-Tahrim 1] to the end of the verse.
