أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ عَاصِمٍ عَنْ زِرٍّ عَنِ ابْنِ مَسْعُودٍ قَالَ

كَانُوا يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ ثَلَاثَةً عَلَى بَعِيرٍ وَكَانَ زَمِيلَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلِيُّ بْنُ أَبِي طَالِبٍ وَأَبُو لُبَابَةَ فَكَانَ إِذَا كَانَ عُقْبَتُهُ قَالَا ارْكَبْ حَتَّى نَمْشِيَ فَيَقُولَ «مَا أَنْتُمَا بِأَقْوَى مِنِّي وَمَا أَنَا بِأَغْنَى عَنِ الْأَجْرِ مِنْكُمَا»

✧ On the Day of Badr, they were three on a camel, and the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were Ali b. Abi Talib and Abu Lubabah. When it was his turn to walk, they said: Ride until we walk. He would say: 'You two are not stronger than me, and I am not more in need of the reward than you two.'
