أَخْبَرَنَا سَعِيدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ عَمْرٍو عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ

فِي قَوْلِهِ تَعَالَى {§وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى} [البقرة 197] قَالَ كَانَ نَاسٌ يَحُجُّونَ بِغَيْرِ زَادٍ فَنَزَلَتْ {وَتَزَوَّدُوا فَإِنَّ خَيْرَ الزَّادِ التَّقْوَى} [البقرة 197]

✧ Regarding the words of the Exalted: {And take provisions, for the best provision is taqwa} [al-Baqarah: 197], he said: 'There were people who performed Hajj without provisions, so it was revealed: {And take provisions, for the best provision is taqwa} [al-Baqarah: 197].'
